Obsession du Jour: Headbands

When I was a little girl with long, tailbone-length hair, I would brush my hair in the morning and push it all back with a headband. I had a thin band in every color to match all my clothes, as well as one of those thick ones with my name on it (didn't every girl have one of those? - similar to these but without the flowers) and one or two sparkly ones with diamantes. Yes, I was obsessed!

Thanks to Gossip Girl, especially Blair Waldorf, I think headbands are back in a big way. I'm on the hunt for a grown-up headband or two, which I think might go well with my new haircut, since I am enjoying wearing my hair down a lot more.

I bought this one from Oasis but it's a bit too out there for me, and I can't figure out which clothes it looks best with (how would you work it into your wardrobes, dear readers?)

In any case, I am now looking for the perfect headband (or two, or three...)

While I was searching, I came across Jennifer Behr's website. She makes some truly exquisite (and very pricey) headbands, some of which have actually been used on Gossip Girl. Here are my favorites from her collection...

Now wouldn't those headbands just spice up anyone's collection? I think my headband collection is in need of a boost - but first, I have to figure out just how to wear them

Do you love headbands? What are your favorite ways to wear them? Looking forward to your thoughts!

They're lovely, so exquisite. And the Oasis one? You could wear that with any dress. Because it's plain, not patterned, you could put it with most things and it's not tooo much. I'd quite like to see it with a punky leather jacket, actually, it'd mix things up a bit!

I've never really worn hairbands that much (apart from when I was younger and growing out my fringe), they look ok mostly but I get annoyed with them and I'm very lazy! I tend to go out with wet hair, so can't really style it until it's dry.

I loved headbands as a child. I wore them all the time. Although, I don't recall having one with my name on it.

I definitely agree that headbands are back thanks to Blair. Her headbands are always fabulous. I've bought quite a few headbands recently. I love them.

Jennifer Behr is one of the most amazing headband designers on the planet. Many of her creations are quite reminiscent of the tiaras that royals wear, in fact. I should love to own her entire collection!

Personally, I love how a wide headband looks when your hair is in a ponytail or updo. It adds a bit of grace to the otherwise casual style. Skinny headbands I reserve for when my hair is down; free-flowing. Such a band keeps my hair out of my face, and is tres chic. :)

I love headbands and these especially are very gorgeous. That's cool that they were used for Gossip Girls too! I actually make some, which on my Etsy and I make some for me to wear as well. It's fun being creative in the headband department.

The only thing I don't like about headbands is that they can cause headaches if they are too tight. But fabric ones usually don't cause headaches. Great post!

My fav. way to wear headbands is w/ hair up, and lots of volume at the crown. Luv the headbands you've posted here, especially the ivory headbands, second one down!

thank you very much for your comment, honey. :)
I loveeeeeeeee headbands but sadly, I don't suit them :( my friend wears them alllll the time and has gazillions of them haha.
I dont think the Oasis one is too 'out there' atall! and it would go with anything honey, cos its plain. you could try it with a nice monochrome outfit, maybe? :)

I must I admit I am a little, well majorly, obsessed with headbands. They make me happy =] Except I'm not sure my migraines like them! So I can't wear them as often as I like and some styles are more comfortable. I love Blair Waldorf's collection.
